Industrial Product Development:

Design, Development, Fabrication and Erection of Light Weight Sandwich Composite Kiosks for LIDKAR Department, GOK:
SDC has taken up a sponsored project from LIDKAR Department, Govt. of Karnataka had sponsored a project for design, development, fabrication and erection of 220 Nos. of Light Weight Composite Kiosks in Bangalore, Mysore and about 20 major cities in Karnataka. SDC had completed the design & development and fabrication of all the Kiosks and also successfully erected 201 Kiosks in Bangalore, Mysore, and other cities. After inspection, review and satisfaction of the work, LIDKAR Department has sponsored work order for 60 more kiosks to be installed in over 10 cities in Karnataka. This project is in progress. Details are presented in this report.

Design, Development, Fabrication and Erection of Light Weight Composite Cable Ducts for BMRCL, GOK:
SDC has taken up a sponsored project from BRMRCL design & development and fabrication & testing of light weight composite cable ducts for BMRCL. Based on the satisfactory performance of the cable ducts, BMRCL has sponsored a project for fabrication, supply and erection of 1,700 Nos. of cable ducts. The SDC has completed fabrication and erection of all the cable ducts at 6 metro stations in Reach-2 Sector. Details are presented.
Fast track Building constructions:
Development of Fast Track Building Construction using LGS-Normal Concrete:
During the reporting year, SDC has successfully developed and demonstrated Fast track building construction technology using LGS- Self compacting concrete with 1500-2200 kg/Cu.m density. For this purpose, SDC has developed a concrete pumping unit to pump the concrete mixture of sand, cement and up to 12 mm down aggregates. The pump is very useful for carrying out concrete pumping work of small quantity/batch, without the need for RMC unit. In order to demonstrate this technology an IAY/EWS house was constructed with a built up area of about 320 sft for KARNIK near Yelahanka town. Details are presented in this report.
Development of Fast Track Roof Slab using LGS Structure.
SDC has successfully designed and developed fast track technology for constructing roof slab of a building. In this technique, LGS joist structures are assembled on top of the LGS wall structures. Metal shuttering is fixed on the bottom side of the joist by means of screws, and lean reinforcement is provided inter connecting the joists. Then, concrete is pumped over the shutter and allowed to cure for 48 hours. After curing de shuttering and a thin layer of screed concreting is done on the top side and two layers of level putty is done on the bottom surface of the slab and painted. By using this technology, the roof slab work is very much simplified and faster. Plastering can be avoided for the bottom surface of the slab. Labor and cost and time saving are the main features of this technology. In order to demonstrate this technology, first floor was built over an existing build at CTP. Details are presented in this report.
Research and Development and Construction of Light Gauge Steel (LGS) Cement Fibre Board Site Office and Mock-up Building for a private builder in Bangalore.
One of the major Design & Development projects carried out by SDC during the reporting year is construction of two buildings: site office and mock-up flat for M/s. Salarpuria, Sattva group, using Light Gauge Steel (LGS) –EPS- CFB Technology, a Fast Track Housing & Building Construction technique. In this project, two buildings having a built up area of 4500sft each, were successfully constructed using the Innovative LGS – CFB dry wall Technology developed by SDC. The construction of the building was completed within 25 days period. The details are presented in this report.
